About Me

My name is Robin and I live in Chicago, Illinois with my little girl, Mia. I am a single mother by choice and it is the best decision I ever made. Before I lost my job in April 2001, I worked as an associate creative director at a major advertising agency and since then, I've had the damnedest time getting a job ... which I guess is how I got pregnant. Well, I know there are other variables at play, but I think you get my drift. Thing is I used to make tons of bucks, and now I make diddley squat. I freelance when I can and it seems to cover the bills, but I have some major outstanding debt and it wears on me. I'd love to get back in the agency biz only because it'd get me out of hock.

I used to think I'd become a fiction writer and I went to grad school for a couple of years for an MFA, but I didn't like the program (Columbia College in Chicago). Now I've become really good at marketing/advertising writing but I think people are afraid to hire me cuz I used to make so much money. Well, tell that to the phone company when they come for the bill ...

Anyway, I have a pretty good attitude, lots of awesome friends and a very funny, eccentric family. My brother Ross, who I loved very much, died tragically and unexpectedly this February from an allergic reaction and I think of him often. My daughter was given the Hebrew name Raizel in his memory. His wife Margit is always in my heart. My sister Nancy and her two boys Michael and Kevin live in Pennsylvania. And my parents: Joy and Jerry live in Milwaukee but spend a lot of time with Mia and I.
